The Fall of Night and another year has ended on Babylon 5. Interesting how much influence Delenn has over Kosh. Too bad Kosh never learned to smile.
What I thought was odd is that Sheridan knew that the explosive device was planted by the Centauri passenger sitting at the end of the car, but nothing afterward was mentioned...but then, there was no indication that Sheridan ever delivered that apology. One of those episodes that got trimmed for time, I guess.
Bye, Keffer. Funny, in reading the JMS postings on the newsgroup regarding Keffer, a lot of people wondered if Keffer was really dead.
Is Keffer dead?He is an Ex-Keffer.Does that mean he's dead?Dead as the proverbial doorknob.
First time a main character has been killed off. But, fear not! There has to be a replacement...and no drooling allowed.

Well, I've made it through another season. I really loved the nod to Neville Chamberlain's "peace in our time" speech, and the Nightwalkers are beginning to resemble Nazis, CHECKA, you name it. The fact that so few participants seem to have second thoughts about the organisation certainly bodes for some nasty times ahead for earth, it would seem.
Now I have a confession to make: this is the ONLY ep that I had seen a part of before. I had the TV on one day about from the time Sheridan was practicing his speech 'til the end, so in a way, that surprise was spoiled already for me.
Absolutely fascinating that everyone saw something different, and that Londo saw nothing. What an impact that had.
However, the writing of this ep was so taut and suspense filled, that it more than made up for knowing that one little thing.

Yeah the reaction of the other races to Kosh was pretty interesting. There is a part of me that wonders if Londo saw nothing because he believes in nothing or if Londo saw nothing because the Centauri have 50 gods/goddesses. I would have liked to have known if Vir saw something.
It does leave open some interesting questions about how other races will see Babylon 5 now. It is a place were they all saw God, which has to make it someplace pretty special.
I also found this episode interesting because it is the latest episode that points to the idea that the Vorlons really are not all that nice. In Comes the Inquisitor we learnt hat the Vorlons are willing to torture allies to find out if they are up to the task at hand. Now we learn that the Vorlons have appeared on all these different worlds as God.
Sheridan was right on the money when he talked about how the Vorlon's manipulated other races. It is interesting that Delenn tried to get around the idea of manipulation. She tries to frame the question a bit differently. Wonder what she knows or if it is just that the Minbari are so used to being manipulated by their own leaders that she is less offended by what the Vorlons have done.
Nightwatch is more then a bit scary. What I like about how all this has been handeled is that Clark has been moving reasonably slowly in how has implemented these new organizations and policies. While some folks, like Sheridan and Hague, are aware that something is happening, Clark's actions are being taken slowly enough as to not alarm the entire population. Now he has enough of his organization set up that those who speak oout against Clark's policies are immediatly detained. So there is no one to speak out against Clark.
This show is great on so many levels.

Actually, Kosh doesn't appear to each race as "God", but as a entity that is very close to God. Everyone saw an angel, which is what the Vorlons have basically programmed into all the races that they have visited. Per JMS: "And in each case, re: Kosh, what they saw was not the *head* of their belief, but in essence a supporting being of light; it wasn't G'Quon, but G'Lan that G'Kar saw, which was a being that story tells us served G'Quon. So you wouldn't see the head of the religion, since there can only be one of those, and lots of Vorlons, but each tends to have a supporting cast, for lack of a better term. Those are what we perceive the vorlons to be." Which is why they ended up looking like angels.

And Wizz, if I remember my Milton, not all angels were necessarily GOOD beings!

True, true...
So, in this case, what can we say about the Vorlons? True to form?

Ya know, the first time I saw this episode I was really disappointed, so I did not watch again last night knowing that I would only be disappointed again (grins).
Queen GOP and I were talking on the phone, she saw the episodes before I did, and she told me she knew exactly what I was going to say in the pivotal scene. I asked her what I would say and she swore that it would give me too much info. I reminded her that I love spoilers and so she told me.
According to her I was going to be screaming "Let him fall! Let him fall!" Which was pretty accurate (Grins)
Ah well, yet another missed oppertunity to kill of Sheridan and bring on a Captain with brains. (shrugs)
And so season 2 ends.
Overall I liked this season, although it is my least favorite of the five years. (shrugs) There was some great development in many major characters, especially Garibalid, G'Kar and Londo. IVanova starts to grow but never really seems to take off and then we have the Chowderhead.
Sorry Merle, no matter how many times I watch the series I still find Sheridan to be a boring, two dimensional character. No depth to the man. Its not the actor its the character that is just so boring. Especially if you compare him to any of the characters still on the series, G'Kar, Londo, Vir, Garibaldi, Delenn... They all have some real depth to their characters. Sheridan just doesn't. (shrugs)

G'Quan is one of the religious leaders on Narn but I do not believe that G'Kar actually believes that G'Quan was God. G'Quan was a prophet or relogious holy figure in the way that many Muslims and Jews see Jesus, a good man who tried to encourage peace and tolerance but not God himself.
G'Lan saves G'Quan, making him a whole heck of alot closer to an actual God figure then G'Quan is. The Minbari see Valeria, their God figure. The Drahk see their God figure, the name of said being matches with the name given in the Parliment of Dreams.

So, Crash, you disagreeing with what JMS wrote above?
Sheridan saw an angel.
And Sheridan certainly is more interesting than the good doctor, or Keffer, or Vir, or....
I know I'll never change your opinion, hell no on on Earth has EVER changed your opinion! LOL! Still fun to argue and tease you though......
